  • Target

    ADIPOQ (Adiponectin (ADIPOQ))

    Alternative Name

    Adiponectin

    Background

Human Adiponectin, also referred to as AdipoQ, Acrp30, apm-1 or GBP28, is a secreted protein expressed exclusively in differentiated adipocyte (an adipokine family member). Adiponectin contains a modular structure comprising an N-terminal collagenous domain followed by a C-terminal globular domain (gAcrp30). Adiponectin plays a role in various physiological processes such as energy homeostasis and obesity. Plasma levels of adiponectin are reduced in obese humans, and decreased levels are associated with insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia.Synonyms: 30 kDa adipocyte complement-related protein, ACDC, ACRP30, ADIPOQ, APM1, Adipocyte, Adipocyte complement-related 30 kDa protein, Adipose most abundant gene transcript 1 protein, C1q and collagen domain-containing protein, GBP28, Gelatin-binding protein
